I am so happy and humbled to merge our families and start this new adventure!!!
I wish time could slow down because I don’t want to miss a single moment of everything that is happening right now.
David and Chelsea met on December 1, 2017 in Chicago after David aired the 4th episode of his live-stream dance show: The Banana Camp Show. Chelsea normally steered away from city events, but had previously reached out to her friend Sutton to take her out.
Sutton purposefully brought Chelsea to David’s show. David saw something special in Chelsea, but was too shy to talk to her that night. After a couple weeks, David and Chelsea became friends and connected by laughing over recent bad dates and past failed relationships.
Chelsea saw something rare in David, looking past his (no longer) cute but dorky style of novelty shirts, blue jeans, and Moab Ventilator hiking shoes. David stole Chelsea’s heart rather quickly through his never-ending kindness and ability to always put her needs before his. They fell in love over the winter.
From the beginning, David and Chelsea spent as much time as they could together. David lived in Chicago in West Town and Chelsea was 45 minutes away in Wheaton. With David’s main office closer to Chelsea, he would visit often on the weekdays. Chelsea would spend most of her weekends in Chicago. After a year, the commute began to take a toll on them. They had some conversations about moving in together, but was not sure about timing. Their main worry was integrating David’s sassy female calico cat with Chelsea’s two male cats, which turned into a cat fight and bloodbath when they tested the introduction out once prior.
One evening, David decided to surprise Chelsea by cooking her dinner before she got home from work. On David’s drive home, he called his mother to get her advice on moving in with Chelsea.
A few minutes after David settled in at home, he noticed that something didn’t seem right. A drawer was pulled out along with some furniture slightly shifted around. He then looked to the window where glass was shattered on the floor. He immediately put two together that his place was broken into. David pulled the footage from his security cameras, where he saw the robber break into his apartment at the EXACT TIME he was on the phone with his mother.
David and Chelsea saw this as a sign; they knew in their hearts that they were ready to put the Chicago apartment in the past and move in together in Wheaton.
From the first try, David and Chelsea knew they were facing a longer integration cycle than normal. David made a DIY cat barrier with a wire shelf and zip ties that went as high as the ceiling. His cat lived on one side and Chelsea’s cats on the other. Overtime, David and Chelsea would move around the barrier to give the cats more space. It took about three months before they could comfortably remove the barrier once and for all! David, Chelsea and their three cats are now one happy family.
In April 2019, David met Chelsea’s father for dinner to ask him for his blessing on marrying Chelsea. Chelsea’s father was extremely supportive and had nothing but kind words to say. The two of them shared drinks, good food, and talked about the future.
Shortly after the good meeting with Chelsea’s father, David then proceeded to ask for the blessing of her mother and brother. They were both overjoyed.
David then bought the ring and carried it on him everywhere he went waiting for the perfect opportunity to ask Chelsea. David and Chelsea visited Arkansas for a family hiking trip. They spent a week in pure bliss on the trails, with a camera in their hands. Little did Chelsea know, there was a diamond ring so close to reach!
When David and Chelsea returned home, they had a fun day in the City followed with fresh hair cuts and a date night out for pizza at Pequod’s. Carefully planned to get on video, David waited for the perfect moment and proposed to Chelsea standing in the comfort of their living room. Chelsea and David fell to their knees and hugged each other embracing this new commitment.
As David and Chelsea’s relationship has grown, they have also grown together as business partners. David and Chelsea both work together on The Banana Camp Show while also working together on creative media and branding projects. They have future goals to launch their own digital, creative agency with services to include photography, videography, websites, graphics, and brand strategy.
